GYROTONIC®
Gyrotonic exercise was created in the 1980s by Juliu Horvath. Gyrotonic exercise is based on a series of movements involving the entire spine and pelvis through a series of curved, arched and spiral actions. This reinforces the neuromuscular system, working around the spine thanks to undulating movements. In addition, it reinforces ligaments and relaxes articulations. The series of movements are guided by a machine helping the body work as a unit while breathing in a rhythmic manner. These courses can be practiced using a Gyrotonic tower, a unit equipped with pulley and spring or on the mat.
PILATES
A gentle technique whose main goal is building core strength in the abdominal area, while enhancing the connection between mind and body by emphasizing intercostal breathing. Pilates emphasis is on spinal and pelvic alignment. It helps to develop a strong core or center, while improving coordination and balance. Its regular practice not only improves posture but also allows it to occurnaturally. Pilates’ system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning to advanced. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises. Pilates can be performed on a mat and on equipments such as a reformer, a cadillac or Wunda chair. Ultimately, Pilates improves muscle tone, balances musculature, supports correct posture, and teaches to move with ease and grace.
GYROKINESIS®
Based on a system of movements that involves the entire spine and pelvis through a series of arching, curved and spiral movements. This series of fluid movements is motivated by a clear connection with the breathing exercises. People who practice Gyrokinesis exercise are more relaxed, they gain flexibility and are better able to connect to the different parts of their body. Throughout the course, the whole body is involved in the exercise and works in a synchronized manner. Gyrokinesis exercise, formerly known as “the yoga for dancers” was created by Juliu Hovarth to late 80s in New York.
GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® are registered trademarks of Gyrotonic Sales Corp and are used with their permission.
GARUDA
Garuda takes its name from an Indian mythological sacred bird that can change shape according to its function. It’s inspired a more intelligent and intuitive way to exercise the body.
Combining the spirituality, pranayama and asana practice of yoga, the core strength and focus of pilates and the balletic grace of dance, the Garuda method is the answer to many people’s quest for a stronger, more flexible, toned body.
ANMA-AMPUKU
The anma (“calm with hands”) is a traditional Chinese massage technique. By stimulating key points on the body, the circulation of vital energy along the meridians improves and natural defenses are activated thus promoting certain natural healing mechanisms. Originally from Japan, Ampuku (“calm the abdomen”) combines work based on the hara (energy center) and a more emotional approach to health.
NATUROPATHY
Naturopathy is a preventive medicine, traditional and non-conventional which the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended to be integrated in public health services in 1983. Naturopathy aims to preserve and enhance the overall health of the individual. It allows the body to regenerate itself. In order to do this, the naturopath must understand the root causes of the disease to rebalance the body.
SHIATSU
Originally from Japan, Shiatsu is a manual technique based on pressure on the meridians. The practitioner helps you maintain or recover your physical and psychological balance, restoring the free flow of energy in the body. Activating the natural healing forces of the body, it allows you to recover your immune potential and vitality. Tensions we experience may disrupt our energy flows and could possibly result in physiological, emotional or structural imbalances, or even long-term pathologies. By relaxing muscle tension and energy blockages, Shiatsu allows the vital energy to flow again. In addition to these physiological and emotional benefits, the overall body´s relaxation is also achieved.
CREATIVE MASSAGE
The créative massage draws its influenced from several techniques like the « californian massage » and the « sweedish massage ». It is equaly inspired by foot reflexiology and shiatsu. A creative massage permits the complete relaxation of the body through prevention of muscular tensions and the relaxation of the mind by guiding the recipient to a wholesome conscience of the body.
Trough encounter with oneself, the creative massage is inventive and surprising. Based on empathy and attention it is adapted to ones needs and wishes and reinvented at every encounter. Equally tender, flowing and enveloping it can also be deeper and muscular.
A comprehensive massage of the body using organic relaxation oils and practised on a massage table.
REFLEXOLOGY, INGHAM METHOD
The origins date back about five thousand years and to China, India, Thailand and Egypt, but it’s only at the beginning of the 20th century that doctor William Fitzgerald developed the method of the « zone therapy » in the USA. And it was later democratised by the american physiotherapist Eunice Ingham. The principle: the foot is the miniaturised representation of the body, each reflex area correspond to an organ, a muscle or a specific part of the body. Tensions are located by applying rhythmical pressure to these reflex zones and allow the balance to be reestablished in the corresponding part of the body. The technique can reduce pain, combat insomnia and stress, digestive, respiratory, muscular, articular , circulatory or urinary disorders. Once harmony is reestablished, regular reflexology practice helps preserve health, due tu a strengthened immunity system. Each session lasts for one hour with the client lying down and only the feet being handled.
